New York City–based watercolor artist Carol Gillott travels to Paris 3 – 4 times a year to soak up inspiration and shoot thousands of photos to paint from.

Gillott’s art career ranges from designing shoes in Italy and Spain; fashion in Hong Kong, India; writing/illustrating travel books on European flea markets and Mediterranean souks,creating wine promotion artwork and painting chef portraits including Jacques Pepin and Paul Bocuse. Gillott has a BFA from University of Pennsyvania, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Parsons School of Design. As an inhouse photographer for seven years at The James Beard Foundation she’s eaten everything under the sun including rattlesnake chips. But blogging for provides the best of all worlds – instant recognition for her artwork from a world-wide audience and the chance to dream up Parisien fantasies five days a week.
